I hadn't realized Australia was so fucked.

As an Australian citizen, for longer than I was a Scot, I guess I have just grown into everything you have talked about.

But one day, in the very near future, things will have to change, as you suggest, and to some extent it's happening. Small apartments with shared gardens (productive as well) and BBQ facilities,but guess what? They are just for the wealthy.
