I can understand this. The way our educational system works here, is driven by marks scored in ATAR. Parents strive to get their kids into areas they are not necessarily suited to, medicine being one of them.
Music they steer their children away from because, their thoughts, not mine, they will end up just teaching. Oh the ignominy!
My daughter's best friend in school is a lawyer...I should say she has a law degree!
She works in the Public Service now, and it's just a job, as far as she is concerned. She considered teaching a few years ago, but back-pedalled when I told her she would have to do a two-year graduate course!
That's the problem with teaching. Everyone's been to school, so they know how to teach. 😂
