I can tell you exactly, Toni. I walked through the front door of the school I was teaching in, having kissed y daughter goodbye, turned left where I was met by people in huddles. Tears streamed down their faces.
"Something wrong?" I asked, and that's when I knew the world had changed forever.
I taught year two at the time and all the boys wanted to do was draw pictures of it on the whiteboard
Personally, all I wanted to do was grab my daughter, call my husband, and then go home.
Of course that was not an option.
I don't think we teachers earned our salaries that day. We talked and talked some more.
At the end of the day I went home and cried a river of tears.
