I always find it rather difficult to respond to someone only knowing their initials. Possibly something for you to think about!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this post, because for many years I was a TESOL teacher here in Australia. I used to talk to parents about valuing their native tongue. Sadly, they often talked what we called 'kitchen Italian' that being they would talk English at home and throw in some Italian. To me that was such a missed opportunity.
Asian families, on the other hand, were so different. They valued their native language, sent their children to school on Saturdays, and worked them hard to maintain high level of oproficiency in two, often three languages.
I have a friend who is Serbian, her husband Italian, and even when the children were very little, they could converse in all three languages. I loved that.
