Fiction Shorts 2024 Drabble Challenge

What he loved about Anna was her talent for turning old clothes into top-end fashion statements.

Every date they’d had, she’d be wearing an enviable creation.

She’d laugh when he praised her for her original statement pieces.

“This little number? This only cost me time and a few odd bits and bobs I already had lying around. I’m a cheap catch,” she’d say. “You won’t see me at any clearance sales.”

He’d marry her one day … when she’d learned to pick up all her strewn sewing pins that found his arse each time he sat on her lounge.

If you’re not already on board with writing drabbles (short, 100-word stories, no more, no less), do yourself a favour. Get stuck in! They are a lot of fun to write but also serve as a lesson in tight writing, given the 100-word constraint.
