Hi Maria - I am right behind you on this. Money is what food banks need. That way they might even be able too respond to particular dietary requirements.

One of my friend's friends worked in a food bank attached to her church. One day an African family came in with two little children. They asekd if there was any fresh food, to which the answer was no.

'We prefer our children to have fresh food,' said the mother.

'Oh well,' said the volunteer, 'beggars can't be choosers.'

We really need volunteers like that!!! She should have been shafted.

In terms of fresh food here in Canberra, where I live, lots of people are now laying out boxes of fresh produce from their gardens. They even stipulate whether it is organic, or not. The movement is growing. Of course there are cabinets with creral boxes, tins of tomatoes and the likes. Most of it is good food, and yo don't have to queue up for it. It is advertised online.

I personally love this. My own daughter bought a new house last year and planted so much fruit (adding to the fruit trees already there, and I asked her what she might do with it.'Give it to anyone who wants it,' was her reply. That's how our world should be.
