Hi James, thank you so much for your considered response. I really appreciate that. When I wrote, :Giving should hurt', I had in mind, one situation, Some years ago, and for several years, my husband and I would do an annual collection for the Red Cross. One of my neighbors, a doctor, with no children, used to fish around in her glove box for a few coins. It was a little demoralising. We felt like beggars.

In the end we told the agency we couldn't do it, that experience, plus people not answering their doors, Was hard.

I understand that we can't give to every charity, but even an explanation that you have charities you favor, leaves everyone happy to continue.

But anyway, I take your point and I will go ack and see how better to couch what I was trying to say.
