Hi David, yes some of those places were pitiful to say the least. Thankfully they were in an era long gone...or so I imagined...;)

I wish I could have used the images that were in the article, to really highlight the impressive transformation. It's not easy living amidst such neglect.

To my way of thinking,these people are the ones who should appear in the Queen's honors' list, or here in Ozland, to be Australian of the year...and not be given to people who are just doing their damned jobs.
