Hi Bernie - beautiful story. I can't even imagine being left a widow at such a tender age. But what i felt for you throughout this story was the presence of your husband. Maybe that is why you couldn't find the 'right time' to take hi ring off.

Once your daughter was married, you had done your job, allowed her to track her own pathway in life, perhaps that was the right time. I truly can't say.

My husband last his wedding ring in our daughter's garden last year. It was a cold day and we were weeding a section, and mulching it with the autumn leaves.

We spent to days emptying bins, checking lawns, checking the newly-mulched garden, but we never found it.

I don't know when I have ever seen him so upset, so I continued to look, even when he had given up. Of course we never found it.

As for your ring...it's now so special in all our hearts.
