Hi Angela, as a teacher, and a mother, now retired, I personally felt that before and after school care was dreadful.

The children hated it.They hated it because they were just as tired as their parents.

I tried to instigate doing homework at our school, but the children didn't want it. who would blame them?. They needed to hang out and do nothing, or something if they wished.

Our care went from 7am to 7pm. Some kids were there that long.

I think this doesn't work on several levels. YOU miss out on parenting and relaxing with your children.

The children are subjected to 'school' for far too long...also in holidays in many cases.

Personally, if I were a parents these days, I would not work unless I could factor it in while my children were at school.

Dong something menial may bring in more than you think...no school fees...no takeaway meals, calmer children , and happy family.

Keep thinking of alternatives. We are parents for such a short time. Enjoy your job. Treasure your children. Be the rock they need.

Nice to meet you. I'm also an Aussie...well, originally a Scot, but Australia is my home.
