Hi Allie, how lucky you were to have a teacher like Mr Jahn. I hope he has read your take on him, (on Medium) because he really was special in that, he operated from the heart, always, which all teachers should do.

But in all honesty, dealing with a disabled student should be as much a management issue as well. How staff in general behave comes very much from the top down, the principal in particular.

Tending to your needs should have been a privilege, not an onerous task, and that is naturally there when the climate in the school is healthy and supportive, one where students step out to do the right thing.

There's no point in any school taking pridie that: outstanding playright Allie Funk attended our school, and claiming some measure of her success, when that was not your take on it.

Keep writing Allie. Share your voice. Teachers need to know how someone like you, felt, included or otherwise.

Congratulaions on your achievements too.
