Hi Alison, that's exactly what we are seeing. Not a lot of 'business' going on, and lots of enervating, 'busyness'.
Like you I believe that supermarkets are not riding the storm. They are capitalizing on it. My favorite thing to do, in a theatrical voice is something like: Look Alistair. This special has gone down from two dollars to, TWO dollars! It always gets people looking.
I now know my prices, and shop ping Aldi for staples saves quite a bit of money.
Very tough on young people.
