He’s In Jail For Nine Years For Fraud
But who’s really to blame?
The dictionary definition of fraud is: criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.
One would assume then, that this definition defines the actions of a person sound of mind, committing fraud.
But let’s look at it this way.
If you get sick, especially if you have something worrying that hangs around for a while, you tend to seek help from a doctor.
If your eyes are bothering you, you will consult with an optician in the first instance, and follow through with a plan of action.
But if you are sick in terms of having a serious addiction such as gambling, or alcohol consumption, you tend not to seek help … at least not in the first instance.
The shiny ball assures you, the addict, that all will be well.
In fact you are more likely to hide behind your problem, cover up your tracks, become super-clever at disguising and fudging, and this can go for years and years before (if ever) being discovered.
By that time, there’s every chance you are not the only casualty in the equation.
The fact is, it takes a bold spirit to front up and admit a need for help.
