Here's my penny's worth for what it's actually worth, Kim.
One of the biggest problems in teaching is the relentless assessment.
Then the report writing. Nowadays we can't write true reports of our students. We are mandated to write a problem euphemistically. I have a friend who has a variety of reports for particular subjects. She routinely cuts and pastes and NEVER spends endless hours and weekend s writing the real deal. And you know what? She NEVER gets a report returned to her to be re-written.It's become a game for her. She's intelligent, hard-working, but she navigates the system with incredible disdain!
And then there's the after school work, and weekend preparation. It's relentless.
I loved teaching. I keep in touch with many of my students. Would I choose to teach again? NEVER!
