Hard times.

… am carrying a knot of grief in my belly for my neighbors here in this beautiful part of the state. This will be a long, slow road to recovery. The tourist season was just gearing up here, when millions of people come to see the fall color. There will be no fall leaf season now, as the towns are just focused on cleaning up, figuring out how to rebuild — if they can rebuild — while search and rescue efforts are ongoing. The lack of a tourist season will hurt the businesses that didn’t get destroyed.
