Haimish, I totally agree with everything you say. These were two really nice kids, and smart, but neither had a parent that kept tabs.

I wonder how they reacted to the 2019 NSW bush fires that were so out-of-control? That could so easily have been my suburb...dry gardens with a dry mountain sitting proud of the streets. A close call.

How we can ever effect change I have no idea.The powers that be are caught in competitions for better schools, more impressive NAPLAN results, and we're shortchanging them by not addressing as you suggest family values, social values, and bringing parents into education.

If you think about it, there's little actual learning that we all take from schools, but we do learn from affirmations, and standing tall because of something a teacher did or said.

Thinking of standing for PM by any chance????
