Great start, Tim, but the food industry is as murky as it gets. Need a nice convenient salad? I no longer live in Britain, but my sister, who does, said to me the other day that if stores like M and S would deliver, she would buy because things are fresh, salads for instance. I then explained the hows and whys of many of these salads are kept fresh. Have a look at the work of Joanna Blythman, the Scottish food journalist, in particular the article about the food fest she went to. It is SO difficult to buy good food these days. I live in Australia, and buy very little store-bought food for this reason. Where you see people with trolleys loaded with factory food, you also see misshapen people, shapes that I don't recall when growing up in Scotland.

Something that really scares me is the plant-food (made in a plant) that is touted as being even better for you than fresh meat. It looks to be the way of the future. The advertising is very persuasive. Its the blue ribbon of junk food, sold under the banner of health and kindness to the planet.
