Great article, Nancy. On reading this I was reminded of my mother who also sewed at home. She was a dressmaker, but she worked so hard for every penny she made. And also, when we moved to Canberra our next-door neighbors were Vietnamese. Not only did the parents work all hours of the day, and into the night. The children were also engaged in putting flyers into envelopes. Can you imagine my daughter's delight to be part of this?
Like you I have written about a fast-fashion business. I buy very little, and in the short-term, if we all did this, the ones to hurt most would be those at the bottom of the pile, those with least. Yet, it's the only way we can send a message to the greedy corporates that we mean business. Lovely to meet you.
