Malky your advice is spot on, but at the same time it's not a guarantee. Heeding it will at least give the writer a better chance, a chance, and with a few fingers crossed, who knows?
I worked as a teacher for years, and the bit you wrote about people getting paid whether they are worth their salt, or not, whether they did a fair day's work, or not, rings true.
Some of the slackest teachers I know, went on to be applauded for their 'diligence', promoted rarely by fair means, to ranks where they would go on to share both their incompetence and laziness, and be paid handsomely for it.
There's a certain ugliness about that, but it's real life.
Lack of dedication and preparation on their part, caused anxiety to team players, and criticism of the team, from others who should have known better.
