Good on you Deirdre. I have had a similar incident. It was a Friday night and I was grocery shopping after work.I was in a queue, a long one, and I did notice two employees, one doing her shopping, standing nearby.

After a decent amount of time she slipped her trolley in front of me, absolutely piled high with goods.

As with you, it was the principles of he thing. I called the manager and explained what had happened. He opened up another checkout, and the problem was solved for me, but not the other people behind.

I truly would have left everything behind.

As for this woman. she certainly was trying to make me feel bad.

I think he might have regretted it, but we'll never know.
