And congratulations on giving birth to such a clever girl! Loved her response about the chocolate.

I hate the idea of corporal punishment in any shape or form, but especially in children.

Our daughter was for the most part, a very good child, but on the odd occasions when she would not comply, I would tell her I was going to read my book, which I would do for all of half a minute. I'd quietly close the door, just for a few moments.

That was enough for her. She would knock on the door and beg me to come out and play with he, which of course, I did. Punishment over. :)
