Correct, David, but times have changed, and social structures are already breaking.
In many parts of the world we have homelessness like we've never seen before. In the last few years, regular renters found themselves in situations they could never have been prepared for, and that governments can't readily fix.
As for aged care, that too is crumbling, unless you can afford the best. And even if you can, social isolation is still there.
So you're right. It's not new as such, but the principles can be better with the right structures in place.
