but does it actually benefit them or does it just feed a dark need for vengeance? Does vengeance do them any good or does it just feed resentment? Does vengeance fill the holes in their hearts? If it does, what does it fill it with?

This is something have considered many times.

I once wrote about a minister whose 4 very beautiful daughters were killed by a man (unrequited love).

You can imagine the heartbreak.

The father subsequently visited the man in prison and over tie was able to forgive then killer.

As he said, until he could forgive, he could not possibly move on with his life.

I see the opposite on television, families coming out of court intent on revenge. I never quite understand that.
