Birthday celebrations in our house are a little on the dodgy side. In the early years of our marriage, my husband forgot my birthday. I said nothing.

A few days later he presented me with a carving knife and a cleaver.

Now, you'd think he would have learned from that one. But for Mothers' Day, at the behest of our daughter, he bought me a microwave.

I hate microwaves and rarely ever used it.

Isn't Mothers' Day a day for all mothers to get out of the kitchen and be indulged???

So we keep all of these occasions rather low key.

Our daughter is now of an age to know what makes me happy. It's not a lot. :)
