Setting: a place of comfort

Jay stretched back in his Lazyboy, thankful that his grandad had left him the armchair.

Sure, to many who love state-of-the-art furniture where everything looks crafted by an interior designer, his big, mechanized chair would not have inspired gratitude.

So what?

But as he pushed the lever to lower the chair even further, he felt resistance.

Pushing his arm down the side of the chair, he pulled out a slimline wallet that had seen better days.

“Thanks for adopting this designer monstrosity Jay. Now it’s your turn to laugh. So get to the bank tout de suite.“

If you’re not already on board with writing drabbles (short, 100-word stories, no more, no less), do yourself a favour. Get stuck in! They are a lot of fun to write but also serve as a lesson in tight writing, given the 100-word constraint.
