As you start to age, do you begin to feel that nobody cares about you?

Or is that a feeling that just suddenly arrives on your doorstep because the pace ramps up for others, whose lives are at a different stage, and you are not on board?

Loneliness was real for many of us last year, but in retirement homes, the situation was so much grimmer, many dying from comorbidity illnesses exacerbated by the virus, unable to say their final goodbyes to relatives and friends.

That‘s so hard to imagine, cruelty, brought on by the inability to find a way, to think in the moment, and find a solution.

But cruelty nonetheless.

Retirement homes here in Australia, have had an extraordinarily bad press in recent times, and for good reason. To say that they are just not up to scratch, is little more than a euphemism.
