As someone passionate about eating around the table, please allow me to share one story I wrote for the parenting portal. Anyone who read it (few and far between) had supportive comments to make, but not too many people seemed interested.

I see eating around the table as a way not just to share food, but to share problems and joys, successes and failures, and so much more.

Our dining table was so well-used some would say, abused. But if it could speak what stories it would tell.

It would be a font of wisdom and understanding, of caring and nurturing, of giving and taking.

We also used it as a stage for reading, reciting poetry, surprising someone who had stepped up to the plate (pun intended!)

Kaela gets the prize this week for helping to chop vegetables in the kitchen ... for example!

John gets a prize for making his first dessert.

Childhood is fleeting. So making the best of moments spent together will reward parents in ways unimaginable.
