Annelise, for a long time there was this notion that people who went to university, especially scientists, were the intellectual elite. To that end, in my home country, there was a push in my country for us children to attend university. We had made it. :)

And then along came Howard Gardener, and his study of Multiple intelligences, https://www.edutopia.org/multiple-intelligences-howard-gardner-video and that whole idea was shot to pieces.

Imagine the engine of a car, especially the complicated ones of today. There are many intelligences at play in understanding how they work. But the mechanic needs to have other intelligences in order to deal with his customers.

As a teacher, I can tell you that we short-changed students in the past, because we simply didn't know.

LOVED this article.
