And if it takes a few years, don't despair...and if they don't want to be what you'd secretly like them to be, again don't despair. I always think that as long as they have some sort of job, everything will turn out fine.

My daughter's partner is an environmental scientist, as well as a piano tuner, as well as being a a draftsman, a volunteer fireman, and right now is fixing up his truck (mechanic?). There is seemingly little he can't do!

That might be one of your children. You just have to get into the flow....
