Almost Universal

As long as you don’t expect to use it!

If there’s one thing I’m good at, it’s leaving at least one thing behind when I am away from home.

I’ve been known to leave a wardrobe of clothes, believe it or not … only once, so I could learn.

Now I think I need to travel with a checklist!

I’ve just returned from Adelaide and though I checked and scanned all used areas in the house before leaving, I still managed to leave my phone charger behind.

Not that I was worried, because I felt sure there would be others at home.

So far I have been unsuccessful in tracking any, so this morning I went straight to the supermarket and bought what was supposed to be a USB charger.

And guess what?

It didn’t fit.

So I called and asked if I could return it, given I had cut open the package.

The answer? No!

The lady I spoke with explained that the appliance is almost, but not quite universal.

So I went researching … Universal Serial Bus: a standard for connection sockets on computers and other electronic equipment.

The word standard speaks to me.
