Ah yes, I have heard it all...so you self-publish, so you're not a real writer. There's some self-published rubbish, and there's some traditionally-published books that could be better.

Some years ago I was reading a BIG Book to my students. They were 7 year olds roughly, There was a lot of conversational language in the book, and as I read, more and more hands went up in class. Eventually I stopped and asked them what was wrong. They explained that the direct speech had been wrongly-punctuated, and they were right! I was so proud of them.

I guess what I am saying is that if you self-publish you make sure that you have read your book again and again, and fixed all typos. In the fast pace of book publishing would the rigor still be there?

I do understand what you are saying regarding everything else you'd need to doing if self-publishing, but you may just get to enjoy it.

Anyway, still great achievement and well done.
