Carolyn Hastings, you know the one, the writer with plenty of time on her hands, has issued yet another of her poetic challenges.

To be fair, the challenge had its origins in poetry-lover Amanda Laughtland, and just as an avalanche has its origins in one seismic movement, this has subsequently found its way into my virtual lap.

I can’t say that I can match either of their linguistic talents, or style, but I think I can go a long way to cooking the books (if such a job were still in existence,) and give it a shot.

So what I started to do, after said gauntlet was thrown, was write a small one-sentence reply to Carolyn Hastings, accepting the challenge, but then I realized I could use at least a bit of it, as my response.

So, in all its glory, here it is for your absolute pleasure Mary McGrath (as promised!)

Oh my goodness Carolyn, your writing was amazing, but having said that, I also must tell you that, by the time I got to the end of your impressive prose I had no idea what the hell it was all about, because instead…
