No better time to promote, than right now…
A few years ago my husband and I spent some time living in Penang, Malaysia. There I met the most beautiful man, who to this day is a very close friend. We share similar concerns about the environment, about materialism, and the lack of care for the planet. The galloping and frightening pace of change from where we were less than three generations ago, to where we are today, we discussed at great length.
When I first struck up a conversation with him I asked about why the tides around the island…
There’s no interview. The position is challenging and fierce. It comes with no salary. It leaves you absolutely exhausted every day, deprives you of sleep, and the free time you once enjoyed, but you wouldn’t trade it even for free access to the biggest bank in the world.
Welcome to the World of Motherhood, where love begins and ends. Welcome also to the longest and most fulfilling chapter in your life.
‘It might be physically impossible to count the ways a mother expresses her love. Where loving warmth meets a teachable moment, that’s where you’ll find a mother, confidently wielding…
The inspiration comes from the poem, ‘Oh, the Places You’ll Go!’ It’s all about seizing opportunity, and being open to adventure.
Dearest William,
CONGRATULATIONS!
Today is your day,
You’ve landed on earth
And now you must stay.
Today‘s your ‘birth’ day!
And you’re perfect, we think.
But we know that the years
Will fly by in a blink.
So from feasting on milk,
Over which you now drool,
Soon you’ll be shopping
For clothes fit for school!
Oh the things there you’ll do,
Oh the people you’ll see,
The teachers you’ll have,
And the student you’ll be.
The friends that…
It was a Friday night. Late opening in our city, a night when it is de rigueur to shop after work, and then enjoy a simple meal out.
My husband needed some business clothes, and we went down to the basement of a large store in the men’s section. It was a store where he always found clothes that he liked, so we spent a fair bit of time looking. Our daughter, quite young at the time, perhaps three or four, was with us.
She was always a good little girl, well-behaved, and patient for the most part.
We duly…
When I was quite a young teacher I had a boy in my class who was invariably late for school. Sometimes he could be as late as one hour, and that is almost always the time in the classroom where important information, or teaching, takes place.
As the eldest of five children, his father was in the army and often away from home. I felt for the mother. She seemed constantly on edge, as was her young son. He would slope into the classroom, and though I greeted him and quickly explained what he had missed, without judgement, I could…
This is a disease that arrives without fanfare, often when you are looking forward to so many things.
It attacks your mind, starting with having difficulty in sleeping, which quickly turns to having no sleep at all.
Death follows soon after.
It hardly bears thinking about, does it!
You are a young graduate lawyer, twenty-seven years old, with the world at your feet. You’re a newly-wed with all the hope of joy that a promising career and marriage might bring. With plans fresh and ambitious, your dreams stretch beyond the horizon.
Can life possibly get better?
Suddenly your world comes…
I am endlessly fascinated about life in general. We each have one life opportunity, but within that, many opportunities to see greatness in others, to share our own strengths, to learn from others, to value others, and to be truly grateful for all that we have, and are.
Life teaches us to realize our true potential, and to do that, we can hitch a ride, by being open to change.

Thank you for taking time to read my stories. Thanks too, to Dr Mehmet Yildiz.
‘The cleverest character in comedy is the clown, for he who would make people take him for a fool, must not be one,’ (himself).
Who doesn’t love a clown? Clowns always make us laugh, really laugh, but they’re often solving problems that we can relate to.
Laughter is the finest of medicine, a force for democracy, and an easy and ultimate infectious rearranging of our psyche.
But, beneath the costume can often be a complex individual, a thinker, and seeker of truth.
The reality is that none of us can be happy all the time. …
How much does honesty and truth mean to you?
If you believe you are honest, do your actions reflect your words?
Are you totally trustworthy…or careless with the truth? Could you bend the rules, or easily tweak your conscience, if the outcome were to your benefit?
Most people like to believe that they are totally honest, but is it always the case? The fact is, that telling the truth can often be painful. A little white lie, on the other hand…who’s to know?
And yet, caving in to the smallest of lies puts us at risk, at risk of ourselves…
From the moment I set eyes on him, I could see he had potential, not necessarily intellectual potential, but promise nonetheless.
Not the best build, to be honest…heavy around the middle, it was clear I’d have to keep an eye on his diet, to protect his innards.
I wasn’t sold on his name, but I could live with it. Felix…a name normally given to a cat!
But there were aspects of his personality that worked for me.
For instance, when he started on a job, he saw it through to the end with a diligence that was eye-watering!
He was…
